Shifting Vehicle Core Technology
The modern car has a much greater demand for software features such as Connectivity, Automated Driver Assistance and Safety Systems, and in-Vehicle Infotainment Systems. Additionally, commercial pressure is introducing a shift towards subscription services. As more and more of these sophisticated features are built into the modern car, traditional vehicle architectures have become costly and inefficient. Individual ECUs have very low computing power such that every ECU is designed to control only one part of the larger system.
The shift to software as central vehicle technology is forcing traditional OEMs to rethink and adapt both their existing business and operational models.
